
Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27th in 1976. He grew up in the southern part of California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School, where he was an outstanding player on both the basketball and football teams. Gonzalez continued to excel in these sports at the University of California, Berkeley. He was instrumental in leading the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl, where he beat the record of the school bowl with nine receptions. A few months later Gonzalez was the team's basketball coach to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. Then he quit school to join the 1997 NFL Draft. Gonzalez was chosen as the 13th overall choice by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez played for the Chiefs from 1997 until the year 2008. Gonzalez was transferred to the Atlanta Falcons. In his second year in the NFL, he never caught less than 59 of them in an entire season.
